Mentoring

As long as it takes

Walking through failure

When sin, relapse, or a hard confession shows up.

  1. 01

    Do not flinch

If they told you, they already fought to get into the light. Thank them. Do not gasp. Do not lecture in the first five minutes.

  2. 02

    1 John 1:7–9

Read it together. Fellowship and cleansing belong to people who come into the light — not to people who never fail.

  3. 03

    Truth and a plan

Name the sin plainly. Ask what the next twenty-four hours require: confession to a spouse, a changed pattern, extra eyes, a pastor.

    • — What is the truth, without makeup?
    • — Who else needs to know?
    • — What is the next right, small obedience?
  4. 04

    You are not the Savior

If it is over your head (abuse, addiction that needs clinical care, crisis), walk them to help. Mentoring is not secrecy.
